Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • Can you store my unused grids for a later session

    Answer:

Yes, we have dewar storage space.

  • How many grids should we send?

    Answer:

Always send a least duplicates, and preferably four grids of each sample. Since grid quality varies even during a single plunge freezing session, and also when repeating identical protocols at different sessions, we prefer to receive multiple grids of each sample, and then decide on the optimal grid after doing an Atlas of all grids.

  • How many grids can be imaged in a day/session?

    Answer:

This depends on the quality of the grid, and the number of grid squared and Quantifoil holes that can be used for data collection.  We always aim to choose the best grid on which most data can be collected, which often results in a grid per day, and often one grid will be used for the total two day session.  Users may also request one grid per day, when their grids are from different specimens.
